At Borel Middle School we will strive to maintain an atmosphere of pride, respect, and support for students and adults alike. We know that everyone will work together to make our school as successful as possible. To insure that you know your responsibilities as a student at Borel, we ask that you read the following guidelines and understand that they will be consistently enforced by the Borel staff.
- You must have with you all of the materials you need for your classes. (example: textbook, pencil, paper, etc.) If you do not bring needed materials, your teacher will discuss the matter with you. Further occurrences will result in detention and a conference with your parents. If the situation doesn't improve you will be referred to a school administer or counselor.
- If you are given detention by a teacher, you must be there at the time agreed upon. If you do not appear for detention, your parent will be contacted. If it occurs again, you will be referred to the school office for disciplinary action. If the problem continues, you will be subject to Saturday School and/or suspension.
- It is expected that your behavior will be acceptable at all times. Such things as bad manners, rudeness, a lack or respect for property, or refusal to do what is requested of you will not be tolerated. If you demonstrate this kind of misbehavior the teacher will contact your parents. You may also be referred to the office, suspended from school, or assigned to Saturday School.
- It is expected that you will arrive on time to school and class. Unexcused lateness for school or class will result in a 15 minute detention. If this pattern of tardiness continues, your teacher will contact your parents. If the problem continues further, you will be referred to a school administrator.
- Students are expected to treat one another with dignity and respect.
- Fighting will not be tolerated. Each and every time this occurs, a parent conference will be requested and you will be suspended or assigned to Saturday School.
- When a substitute teacher is present, you are expected to maintain a high degree of self discipline and cooperative behavior. You should be especially good when there is a "guest teacher" on campus. If you fail to comply with this guideline, you will be referred to the office and assigned detention. If you continue to be uncooperative with substitute teachers, your parents will be contacted. If the matter is not corrected as a result of the parent conference, you may be suspended or assigned to Saturday School.
- One basic rule will always apply ....
Students are here to learn -- Teachers are here to teach.
No student will be allowed to keep a teacher from teaching
or another student from learning.
