Traffic conditions in front of school on Barneson Avenue can be dangerous for you. Too many cars are traveling too fast through our school zone. You can help keep yourself and your friends safe by doing the following:
- Cross at intersections and crosswalks only. You have the right of way at intersections, but there are no stop signs in front of Borel. Crossing mid-block is very risky. If you cross between intersections or outside of crosswalks, you must yield to cars and wait for a safe time to cross.
- Always use caution and look both ways before crossing.
- Make eye contact with drivers. Don't assume they will stop – they may not even see you.
- Always be alert. Especially with your headphones on or when you are on the phone – you may not hear the car approaching!
- Be predictable. Do not make sudden moves into traffic.
- Remember cars on the road are a lot heavier and are moving faster than you. You are the one who would get hurt in a collision.
The Borel PTA Safety Committee thanks you for your cooperation.
