International Baccalaureate

The core aspects of the Middle Years Program (MYP) are the Areas of Interaction. These areas are used as lenses through which the California State standards are taught. Students use the Areas of Interaction to explore the curriculum as well as make connections between the subjects they are studying.

Approaches to Learning
Gives students the tools to explore the ways in which they learn best. Students develop ways to organize their time and study skills. These skills make learning easier.

Health and Social Education
Prepares the student for a physically and mentally healthy life as an individual and as a member of a group. The goal is to develop valuable members of society.

Environments
Asks the student to understand the mutual dependence of humans and their environments. Students consider perspectives and responsibility in order to maintain a healthy world.

Human Ingenuity
Students learn to appreciate the capacity, creativity and drive to change and improve the quality of life. This is done by using science, systems, materials, energy and resources to solve challenges and problems.

Community and Service
Encourages responsibility, caring and participation in the student’s neighborhood and the wider world. Students realize that community and service builds character and that our neighborhoods improve because of our efforts.
