The challenging and uncertain economic times we are facing are affecting our public schools. The effects of unprecedented budget cuts in Kindergarten - 8th grade education are being felt throughout the San Mateo-Foster City school district. Unfortunately, the full cost of operating Borel is no longer covered by either state or district funding - and our students are suffering the consequences.
We are appreciative that financial support for our neighborhood schools is a long tradition which has continued on to Borel Middle School. Family participation in our Fair Share Fundraising Drive has helped Borel make many academic strides, and test scores continue to rise.
The funds Fair Share raises each year will not only provide basic school supplies, but also supports additional staffing for the following areas:
- Differentiated Instruction/Response to Intervention (RTI)- This program will help
- Counseling
- School Resource Office
Your contribution is more necessary than ever to continue to advance the standards of excellence at Borel. In order to maintain the academic and social strides that the community demands, we need your tax-deductible Fair Share pledge of $350 per student now more than ever. Remember your donation to the Fair Share Fundraising Drive will directly affect our students.
Increasingly, families are stepping up to show their commitment. Last year we raised $80,000, a 33% gain from the year before! Our goal for this year’s Fair Share Drive is 100% participation.
